Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to DISTANCES: Journal of Data Science, Technology, and Computer Science undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure the integrity, quality, and scientific contribution of the published work.

Review Workflow

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, manuscripts are first checked by the editorial team to ensure:

    • Alignment with the journal’s focus and scope

    • Compliance with author guidelines and formatting

    • Originality (via plagiarism detection tools)

Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements may be returned without external review.

  2. Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers.

    • Authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review.

    • Reviewers assess the manuscript based on originality, methodology, clarity, academic contribution, and relevance.

  3. Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ comments, the editor will make one of the following decisions:

    • Accept (with or without minor revisions)

    • Revise and resubmit (major revisions required; re-reviewed)

    • Reject (not suitable or lacks sufficient quality)

  4. Revision Process
Authors are given a specified time (usually 1–3 weeks) to revise their manuscript according to reviewers’ feedback.

    • Revised manuscripts may be sent back to reviewers for a second evaluation.

  5. Final Decision and Production
Once accepted, the manuscript proceeds to copyediting, layout formatting, and final publication.
